U radu programskog paketa FreeType otkrivene su dvije sigurnosne ranjivosti. Riječ je o biblioteci programskih funkcija za prikaz fontova. Ranjivosti se očituju u prepisivanju spremnika u funkcijama "Ins_SHZ()" u datoteci "ttinterp.c" i "ft_var_readpackedpoints()" u datoteci "truetype/ttgxvar.c". Udaljenom napadaču omogućuju izvođenje napada uskraćivanjem usluge (rušenje aplikacije) ili pokretanje proizvoljnog programskog koda. Korisnicima se, u svrhu zaštite, savjetuje instalacija ispravljenih inačica.

Two buffer overflows were found in the Freetype font library, which could
lead to the execution of arbitrary code.

For the stable distribution (lenny), this problem has been fixed in
version 2.3.7-2+lenny5.

For the testing distribution (squeeze), this problem has been fixed in
version 2.4.2-2.1.

For the unstable distribution (sid), this problem has been fixed in
version 2.4.2-2.1.

We recommend that you upgrade your freetype packages.
